Oi mate, I never said Ruth Kelly wasn't a hypocrite, I merely gave certain scenarios in which some would prove that she was and others that she wasn't. However I ended in noting that it is impossible to tell either way as the information required to ascertain this would breach the legitimate privacy of her son.
You'll also note that I posted straight after that, another article entitled 'Disclaimer' in which I pointed out that I personally can't stand the woman so I'm no supporter or apologist for her.
'Religious bigot', good question. I've never come across anything that she has said publicly to outright brand her in that way. The comments surrounding the current matter as to whether she, from her personal position trying to influence policy to achieve an outcome that is in support of more hardline Catholic doctrine comes from the media. You know the cynic in me who will always question if anything is true or is it convenient for a hostile press to try and stir up this kind of conflict that is damaging to the party so therefore I don't actually know what she argues for or against in Cabinet as I'm not present.
What I would say is that given her well known views and position, it is questionable of the judgement of those who would put her in a position of responsibility where there are obvious sensitivities that are going to crop up regularly given the nature of her brief.
If she is truly a talented person and deserving of high office then it would be better that she be placed somewhere she's not going to be questioned regularly about how her personal views might conflict with her decisions, say for example environment or transport. Saying that though, I haven't seen one single thing from her to suggest that she should be given a role of any real responsibility, not when there's a hell of a lot more talent I could point to in the PLP that is currently not being taken advantage of.

Seems simple to me - obey the law or close down. If they close they won't be missed because those wanting to adopt will still adopt they will just do it through agencies that aren't bigoted.
Mind you Opus Dei in the form of Ruth Kelly (I know you don't think she is a hypocrit but how about a religious bigot?)will surely come riding over the hill and save (fiddle and fudge)the day particularly as her boss - no not God I mean Blair - has the same religious fundamentalist tendencies.
Good ain't it the New Labour mantra:
"We hate all bigotry unless it is our bigotry"!
