Closing the blog down…

Well, regular visitors might have got that impression of late due to the distinct lack of activity. It’s true with all the myriad of other things I’ve had to do lately that I’ve let the blog slide a bit. For some strange reason I’ve been particularly busy this last fortnight or so, someone would think there’s a General Election on or something but there you go, the demands on me from the wider world have dragged me away from the blog.

That said, I’ll try to get a quick post in now and cover a few things I haven’t got round to, some of which I really meant to write about over six months ago, such is life, other distractions always get in the way.

Well maybe we can get back to the topic of energy saving bulbs? I am trying to follow the government’s advice and use lower wattage bulbs in my flat but they have a nasty habit of needing replacing more quickly though.

    Any advice Penguin?

Dave, energy saving bulbs last longer than normal incandescent ones so unless you’ve somehow got hold of a dodgy lot then I can’t see how you could need to replace them more often.

I do remember you telling me you had loads of spotlights at your place for which energy saving versions aren’t easy to come by. Do you mean you are using halogen spot bulbs which aren’t energy efficient and yes they need constantly replacing. We’ve still got two light fittings in our place that have them (the rest have energy saving) and I’m seriously considering ripping them out because the bulbs not only waste electricity but cost more than incandescent and need replacing far too quickly.

Yes have been using halogen – ahh thanks for the tip, you know what my technological skills are like!

Where did you say that little shop in Willenhall was again?!

If you’re referring to Hooty’s, it’s on the industrial estate off Rose Hill. However their stocking of halogen spots is haphazard at best. There’s a little shop in the indoor market in Willenhall that sells them much cheaper than anywhere else I’ve found. However the other day one of our didn’t just die, more exploded covering the living room floor with glass. Not good when you have a little one running around.
