		<description>I completely agree, Alistair Darling came over as one of that rare breed of honest politicians, although the sceptic in me believes that there may have been &#039;other&#039; reasons he decided to say what he did, when he did.

Typically the Tories are the first to criticise, but then go on and lamely suggest they would have done something different, but choose not to share it with us. Insofar as the affect on Sterling, I find it hard to believe that the state of our economy was not already &#039;priced into&#039; the exchange rate, so it is difficult to blame Darling for that. If there was any criticsm, I would just say that Alistair Darling&#039;s language was emotive, it may have been better if he had explained why he felt there were similarities with 60 years ago.</description>
